Rancho Cucamonga Woman's Club

United in helping our Community and the world

ABOUT US

In early 1908, thirteen women of the Cucamonga area met with the idea of starting a woman’s club.  Later in 1908 the club joined the California Federation of Women’s Clubs and in 1933 it became a member of the national organization, The General Federation of Woman’s Clubs in Washington D.C.  We currently have more than 80 members and celebrated our club's 100th anniversary in January 2008 with a party at the cultural center in Victoria Gardens.

Meetings were held in member’s homes for many years, but outgrowing this arrangement and exhausting the available facilities, the club, in conjunction with The Men’s Service Club of Cucamonga purchased the Sweeten Hall facility in the mid 1950’s.  In 1983 the Men’s Club purchased the Woman’s Club’s share of the property.  A building fund has been established for the purchase of a future meeting facility.  In the meantime the interest from the money allows the club to donate to many projects.  Our meetings are currently held at the

Alta Laguna Community  Clubhouse located at 10210 Baseline Rd. in Alta Loma.

WHAT DOES THE RANCHO CUCAMONGA WOMAN'S CLUB

DO?

We are very proud to have donated $10,000.00 to the City of Rancho Cucamonga to sponsor the Jane Austen Study room in the new cultural center in honor of our 100th anniversary.

We provide Scholarships for local high schools and Chaffey College, including a Nursing student scholarship along with donations to the San Bernardino District 21 Nursing Scholarship fund.  We also award savings bonds for the most improved local 8th grade student as well as support and donate to our local Head Start program.

We are also actively involved in citizenship, legislation, health, safety, gerontology, performing and visual arts, spiritual values and educational programs.

We send local high school students to The HOBY foundation camps, We donate money for Canine Companions, Santa Claus, Inc.  and numerous other worthy organizations.  We contribute food and financial assistance to local food banks.  Our conservation efforts include  collecting Pennies for Pines, planting trees in our parks,(including our grove of trees we’ve planted in Red Hill park in honor of our past club presidents)  and recycling.  We collect pull-tabs for The Ronald McDonald House in Loma Linda and needed items for the Veterans at Jerry Pettis Veterans Hospital in Redlands.  We wrap and fill shoeboxes for the Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child and collect items year-round for this project.

Our crafts and service committees make and donate such items as bibs and lap robes to the disabled veterans hospitals, booties & caps for newborn babies at local hospitals and craft items for our fundraising boutiques.

Our literature section donates books, magazines and time to our local library and offers financial support as well.

Social Activities include our monthly luncheon meetings (Sept. thru June) at the Alta Laguna Mobile Home Community clubhouse, cards and games gatherings, day trips, picnics and numerous other outings.
